Surgical Scrub Tech II, Procedure Center

The Surgical Scrub Technician II works under the direct supervision of the registered nursing staff, the physician/surgeon and anesthesia team to act as a primary scrub person. Handles the surgical instruments, supplies and necessary equipment during endoscopic and surgical procedures. Incumbent shall possess the ability to anticipate the needs of the physician/surgeon and has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure safe, quality patient care during the operative/diagnostic procedure. Performs delegated activities such as assists in endoscopic, manometric, diagnostic procedure such as PH Probe, Bravo PH, PillCam. Can also assist in OB procedures. Selection and set up of appropriate equipment done in the Procedure Center/OR and outside of department according to patient age specific needs and physician's preference. May precept new Technicians and students to the department. Takes emergency on call. Position works 5, 8hr shifts per week (Monday - Friday) plus shared weekday and weekend call. The shifts are day shifts with variable start times.

Requirements

Minimum two (2) years of Surgical Technician experience; High School Diploma or GED; Completion of Endoscopy orientation program or surgery orientation program; Ability to prioritize and complete duties in a timely and organized manner; Ability to work collaboratively and in a positive manner with others; Flexibility and creativity in response to unexpected changes in work load/staffing; Excellent communication skills; Basic Life Support (BLS); Medium - High energy level; Lift and carry 40-50 lbs; Push/pull +/- 150-200 lbs (patients on bed, stretcher); Lateral transfer 150-200 lbs (patient)

Nice to have

Operating Room experience (two years); Graduate of Surgical Technology program or military service training; Operating Room Tech National Certification or Certified Surgical Technologist
