Surgical Technologist- Float Pool

Full-time Surgical Technologist position in the regional Surgical Services Float Pool at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, supporting the Wake region ORs. Works 4 ten-hour shifts weekly (days), 40 hours per week. The role renders care to assigned patients under RN direction, assists with direct patient care, prepares the Operating Room, and maintains aseptic technique.

Responsibilities

Renders care to assigned patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), including assisting with direct patient care activities; Prepares and stocks the Operating Room before and after surgery; Gathers clean and sterile supplies; Sets up sterile instrument fields; Maintains and monitors aseptic techniques; Ensures quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking and management of case-specific needs under direct supervision of the RN; Ensures complete, accurate and timely care, cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment and supplies; Communicates effectively and professionally with the team, co-workers and patients; Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development; Demonstrates cost containment activities for instruments and inventory; Provides support to the Wake region ORs through the regional Surgical Services Float Pool

Requirements

Graduation from a Surgical Technology program or from an accredited school of Nursing; 3 years of experience strongly preferred; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required; Certification in specialty area preferred
