Technical Lab Specialist

Full-time Technical Lab Specialist position in Core Lab: Microbiology at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NC. Schedule is Monday to Friday, variable. Benefits eligible. Hours per week: 40.

Responsibilities

Ensures all requirements of applicable regulatory agencies are satisfied at all times; Leads continuous accreditation readiness efforts and collaborates on improvement capabilities; Facilitates assessments and develops, implements, and evaluates corrective action plans based on past surveys and preparatory tracer activities; Collaborates with operational leaders, key operators, technical staff, and professional partners to implement technical methods in clinical area of expertise; Improves quality and efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout; Collaborates with vendors, technical directors, quality, and lab team to create a standardized method validation plan for new equipment; Ensures equipment is implemented in an integrated fashion, optimizing technology, information systems, and processes; Participates in creation of standard work and shares technical expertise for continuous improvement; Practices and teaches critical thinking and problem-solving skills; Identifies performance improvement opportunities and utilizes the PDSA cycle to document improvements; Designs and conducts experiments to evaluate new methods; Maintains professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networks, and professional societies

Requirements

Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology, business, manufacturing, or related field; Minimum of five (5) years of relevant leadership experience; Group Leader experience can count toward leadership requirement; Demonstrated track record of achieving results; Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory agencies (federal, state, local); Ability to actively walk and navigate throughout the work area around equipment; May be required to stoop, reach, and lift light (20 lbs.) to moderately heavy (50 lbs.) loads

Nice to have

ASCP certification; Micro specialty experience; Master's degree in Health Administration, Business, Science or another related field
