Technician 2 - Data Centers

The Communications Technician II supports the installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of mission-critical structured cabling systems within data center environments. This role requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and adherence to company and client safety, quality, and performance standards.

Responsibilities

Follow Safe Work Practices conforming with the Company’s Safety Program and client worksite policies ensuring every person on the team stays accident free every day.; Install and decommission critical cabling and network infrastructure in a Data Center environment.; Exhibit a high level of Safety and Quality on all work.; Follow all Safety, Quality, and Production standards, codes, and industry best practices.; Read, comprehend, and adhere to project design drawings, specifications, manufacturer recommendations, and installation standards.; Demonstrate broad understanding of Structured Cabling System installation and commissioning.; Proactively maintain work area organization and good housekeeping.; Organize materials, tools, and equipment, collect debris, and ensure hazardous conditions are promptly and appropriately addressed.; Maintain compliance with customers’ Safety, Quality, Security, and Site Access policies and requirements.

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; OSHA 10 certification (must obtain within 90 days of hire); First Aid and CPR certification (within 90 days of hire); Ability to listen carefully and follow instructions; Demonstrated ability to be a proactive contributor to a team; Aptitude for learning from and teaching other team members; Ability to distinguish color for cable identification; Knowledge in the safe and appropriate use of basic hand tools for telecom and construction applications; Ability to work effectively in a fast-changing environment while maintaining a positive attitude; Dependable and reliable team player with strong work ethic; Ability to execute assigned project work with a high degree of attention to detail; Willingness to work days, nights, and weekends as required; Self-motivated with integrity and professionalism; Reliable source of daily transportation; Ability to read, write, and understand English; Ability and willingness to travel as required (approximately 50% overnight travel); Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; Ability to work from heights and in tight, confined spaces; Pass background check and drug screening

Nice to have

3 to 5 years of structured cabling or telecommunications experience; OSHA 10 certification (preferred); Fiber Optic Association certifications; BICSI Technical certifications
