Telemetry Tech-Emergency Department-Part Time-7p-7a

Location: Advocate Lutheran General Hospital - 1775 Dempster St. Department: 36102 Advocate Lutheran General Hospital - Emergency Department. Status: Part time. Hours Per Week: 24. Schedule Details/Additional Information: 1900-0700. Pay Range: $20.80 - $31.20. Schedule: Part Time; 7p-7a (2-12 hour shifts a week).

Responsibilities

Continuously monitor and interpret EKGs of patients on telemetry; Admit and discharge patients from central monitoring; Interpret and alert team members of EKG rhythms; Notify appropriate staff for lead wires off, electrode and battery changes, and proper lead placement to ensure optimal QRS configuration on the telemetry monitor; Maintenance of appropriate communication logs; Report all changes in patient’s rhythm to appropriate staff; Consult emergency department nurse for complex arrhythmia analysis and interpretations and questions; Provide documentation for the medical record of the patient’s baseline and rhythm and with any changes in heart rhythm; Document EKG strips from the monitors as appropriate during routine and emergency interventions; Promotes patient safety by reporting of issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives; Supports care of the patient such as transporting specimens, patient transports or other non specified needs; Facilitates communications required to support patient care including multiple-line telephone, unit/site paging and hospital information system; Screens incoming telephone calls; Monitors department office equipment and troubleshoots minor problems; Arranges repair of major malfunctions; Coordinates tests and treatments with and between various departments for patients on nursing units; Maintains working knowledge of functions and services offered by all diagnostic and treatment departments to facilitate the scheduling of tests and treatments; Compiles necessary chart forms for admissions, transfers, discharges and expirations; Verifies medical records contain complete and accurate patient demographic information, patient identification and registration in the medical record, including appropriate level of care; Maintains supply inventory and equipment, assuring supplies are ordered as needed; Cleans lead wires and transmitters after each patient use and returns them to stock; Trains all new personnel in the operation of the telemetry equipment; reviews EKG interpretation

Requirements

High School Graduate, or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED); Ability to interpret basic EKG rhythm; CPR Certification; Successful completion of Basic EKG exam within the first 12 weeks of employment in the role
