Junior Associate (NQ - 2 PQE) - Catastrophic Injury/Large Loss

Our Manchester Catastrophic Injury and Large Loss team handles all aspects of multi-track claims, including liability investigations, policy coverage and quantum assessments. The role involves a varied caseload of motor, EL/PL and indemnity matters. We are looking for a Junior Associate who is ready for the next step in their career and can quickly contribute to high-value, large loss matters. Senior lawyers will delegate complex aspects of cases, providing strong opportunities to develop technical expertise and client relationships. As your experience grows, you may also lead lower-value large loss cases. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team within our multi-award-winning firm.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively across the team, primarily acting for insurers and self-insured commercial organisations; Assist with a varied caseload of motor, EL/PL and indemnity large loss matters; Conduct investigations, liaise with live defenders, take witness statements and review medical records and reports; Identify evidence requirements and obtain documents and information from claimant representatives; Comply with client reporting, reserving, SLA and MI requirements; Manage files effectively, including preparing initial and updated reports and correspondence; Attend court and pre-trial meetings and comply with court timetables; Support senior lawyers in servicing existing clients, developing new business and maintaining strong client relationships through technical excellence and innovation; Draft legal documents and client advice; Handle interlocutory proceedings, CMCs and client meetings; Support marketing and business development activity across the team and the wider Clyde & Co Casualty group

Requirements

Experience in personal injury litigation; A determined and adaptable approach, with the ability to work effectively in a demanding, fast-paced team; An interest in complex legal issues and a commitment to developing your knowledge; A strong focus on delivering a professional client service and meeting client SLA and MI requirements

Nice to have

Experience in defendant litigation; Relevant transferable skills gained in a claimant environment; Driven to succeed and committed to developing a career as an Associate
