Product Manager

AfterQuery is an applied research lab curating data solutions for foundation model development, serving frontier AI labs. Its customers build foundation models, and its work sits directly in the loop of how those systems improve. The company is based in San Francisco and backed by Altos Ventures, BoxGroup, Y Combinator, and angels from several AI and technology companies. The Product Manager will own and architect core infrastructure systems and product areas end-to-end, working with engineers, operators, and internal users.

Responsibilities

Work closely with engineers, operators, and internal users to deeply understand their workflows and pain points; Identify the highest-leverage product and infrastructure problems across the company; Turn ambiguous problems into clear product direction and technical requirements; Partner with Engineering to ship products and systems quickly; Balance immediate business needs with long-term scalability and maintainability; Own product areas end-to-end, from problem discovery through launch and iteration; Use data, user feedback, and business context to prioritize what we build; Help standardize and improve workflows as AfterQuery scales

Requirements

Strong technical fluency; High ownership and ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments; Strong product judgment and ability to identify the underlying problem behind user requests; Excellent communication skills and ability to work across technical and operational teams; Bias toward action and comfort moving quickly with incomplete information; Strong user empathy and willingness to spend significant time understanding how people actually work; Ability to synthesize fragmented feedback into clear priorities and product direction
