Senior Engineering Manager (Hands-on) - Offer

Alan is building the new standard in prevention insurance, integrating insurance, prevention, and care into a single user experience. The Offer Area designs, prices, contracts, and renews the insurance offers that Alan sells across 4 countries. This role leads engineering for the area, building a shared 'Core Stack' for insurance across countries, AI-assisted underwriting and sales tooling, and Life & Disability as a first-class product. The role combines people leadership with technical direction, and the engineering leader is expected to remain hands-on.

Responsibilities

Shape the roadmap with product functions; Hire, shape, and grow the engineering team; Decide what the team works on; Establish engineering excellence standards and guide architectural decisions; Own technical direction, quality standards, and incident response as the organization scales to more countries; Stay hands-on: review code and ship some yourself; Mentor future leaders and influence engineering culture; Drive technical strategy for the Offer Area's Core Stack, insurance pricing, contract lifecycle, and Sales tooling

Requirements

3+ years leading engineering teams, with a track record of building high performers; Experience establishing engineering excellence standards, with the ability to guide architectural decisions; Partners with other product functions as a true equal, shaping the roadmap, naming trade-offs honestly, and helping the team commit to what it can deliver; Comfortable with modern development practices and AI-assisted development tools; Curious, self-starting, humble, collaborative, and eager to grow; Develops people as much as products; Healthcare technology and innovation excite you; Understands that great engineering teams are built on psychological safety and continuous learning
