Responsibilities

The internship will focus on 3D simulation of the following topics; Mixture preparation process in the engine, resulting in a quantitative assessment of fuel wall film formation and subsequent soot formation.; Thermal simulations including 2 phase conjugate heat transfer of components associated with the automotive thermal systems.; Heat exchangers and flow path optimization.; The intern will contribute by validating CFD models using measurement data from tests, and develop optimized designs for engine sprays, thermal units and heat exchangers to improve performance/efficiency and mitigate existing problems.; The intern will also contribute towards identifying and proposing process improvement methods in CFD.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace engineering or similar discipline with strong interest in engine simulation; Existing experience in working with 3D simulation tools such as AVL Fire, Converge etc.; Experience with CAD modifications; Ability to work independently; Minimum GPA of 3.0

Nice to have

Doctoral (PhD) student in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace engineering or similar discipline; Experience with IC engine testing; Experience with 1D simulation tool GT-Power
