Backend Engineer

Payrails is a global payment software company helping leading enterprises to take control of their payment operations and maximize performance. Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain software in a thriving environment; Manage individual project priorities and deliverables whilst working in a team who enjoy knowledge sharing sessions; Stay up to date with the latest trends in technology; Work within your cross-functional team to uphold the highest technical standards right across the product

Requirements

3+ years of backend engineering experience with a proven track record of delivery and end-to-end ownership; Vast experience in developing software in large-scale production systems, ideally using Golang; Strong software design intuition and clean code principles; Hands-on experience with distributed systems and micro-services in production environments; Comfortable with SQL-based systems and can troubleshoot data issues independently; Good knowledge of observability practices and how to use them to diagnose production issues; Effective communicator within team and across functions; Business-oriented mindset - understand why what you build matters

Nice to have

Experience in fintech or payments; Familiarity with AI tools in your development workflow
