Building Inspector

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Full-Time Building Code Inspector to join our Building Code Services team. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with New York State Building Codes and local regulations through field inspections of residential and commercial projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction or code enforcement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Conduct on-site inspections of residential and commercial projects to verify compliance with applicable New York State Building Codes and local ordinances; Document inspection results and prepare clear, concise reports for project records; Communicate findings and code requirements to contractors, design professionals, and municipal officials; Identify code violations and provide guidance on corrective actions; Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service when interacting with clients and project stakeholders; Coordinate with internal team members to support project schedules and deliverables.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in construction, building inspection, or code enforcement; Current New York State Building Code Enforcement Official certification; Strong working knowledge of New York State Building Codes and construction practices; Reliable personal vehicle and willingness to travel up to 50 miles for site inspections; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
