Business Unit Manager Asbestos Belgium

Eurofins Environment Testing Belgium is seeking a hands-on Business Unit Manager to lead and develop its Asbestos Services Business Unit in Merelbeke-Melle. The role combines people leadership, operational excellence, and commercial responsibility. The Business Unit specializes in asbestos-related services, supporting customers across Belgium with laboratory analysis, inspections, and regulatory compliance. The manager will lead a Business Unit of approximately 25 FTE and report directly to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Take full ownership of the operational and financial performance of the Business Unit; lead, coach, and develop a team of operational and support profiles; drive business growth by identifying opportunities and supporting commercial activities; act as a key point of contact for customers and build long-term relationships; monitor and steer KPIs, targets, and performance metrics; optimize processes, planning, and resource allocation; collaborate cross-functionally to unlock synergies and support broader business objectives; contribute to budgeting and business planning, with exposure to P&L management; foster a results-oriented culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement

Requirements

Experience in an operational leadership role (e.g. operations, production, logistics, manufacturing, or similar); hands-on approach and ability to manage teams in a dynamic, multi-site or field-based environment; interest in or initial exposure to commercial activities and comfort engaging with customers; understanding of business performance metrics (KPIs, revenue, margins); experience with P&L is a MUST; knowledge and experience of Operational Excellence and application of LEAN; strong analytical and organizational skills; results-driven mindset with a strong sense of ownership; proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams; proactive attitude and ability to turn challenges into opportunities; degree in Business, Science, Engineering, or a related field (flexible); Dutch (mandatory)
