Responsibilities

Purchase maintenance and factory supplies as required; Run MRP and order raw materials as needed; Maintain relationships with suppliers; Effectively maintain professional business relationships with suppliers; Acquire supplies that are critical for the success of business operations; Support inventory cycle count program; Purchase the proper supplies and materials according to specifications; Keep detailed records on procurement activity, materials quantity, specifications etc.; Ensure prompt and accurate updating of the computer systems; Maintain compliance with all Marmon IEI Environmental, Health and Safety policies; Support and participate in Lean/5S and process improvement initiatives; Support activities within compliance to ISO Quality System procedures; Provide coverage in the absence of the Sr. Buyer; Work as a team with peers, managers and Marmon IEI employees; Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc. as assigned; Monitoring and adhering to applicable laws, regulations and policies regarding the purchase of goods and services

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years previous experience as a buyer or in a similar position; Knowledge of applicable purchasing laws, regulations and policies; Ability to read and interpret production and materials reports; Knowledge of inventory processes and cycle counts; Excellent communication skills; Strong organization and documentation skills; Ability to perform basic arithmetic, statistics, and other specific mathematical applications; Ability to meet deadlines; Ability to communicate verbally, in writing and interpersonally; Solid knowledge in Microsoft applications and applicable production applications; Ability to multi-task, follow priorities given, and have strong troubleshooting skills; Self-starter: ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision; Ability to work long hours in a sedentary position sitting, talking, looking at a computer, charts/graphs and performing repetitive motions; Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE; Ability to briefly work in warm and noisy environment while on the production floor; Ability to move objects and materials of at least 25lbs

Nice to have

Associates Degree in Business or a related discipline; Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP); Experience in Wire and Cable
