Care Assistant

We are looking for a compassionate, dependable, and dedicated support worker to provide care for a young child with complex medical and physical needs, living at home with their family. The role involves assisting with airway management, including suctioning, deep suctioning, and chest physiotherapy; supporting PEG feeding, including administering feeds and medication; and supporting school attendance and participation in daily activities. The child enjoys sensory and water-based play, outdoor activities, and social interaction.

Responsibilities

Provide care for a young child with complex medical and physical needs; Assist with airway management including suctioning, deep suctioning, and chest physiotherapy; Support PEG feeding including administering feeds and medication; Support school attendance and participation in daily activities; Be a friend as well as a professional carer; Give choice, keep safe, and make days comforting and happy

Requirements

PEG feeding; Suctioning; Medication administration; Seizures; Reliable and punctual; Excellent communication skills; Patience, kindness, and a calm temperament; Ability to respond sensibly and calmly in all circumstances; Promote choice, respect, and dignity; Observant and willing to gain a deep understanding of the child's needs; Want to be part of the child's everyday life; Record information accurately, clearly, and promptly; Previous experience supporting individuals with complex care needs
