Certified Veterinary Technician

In this role, you will provide hands-on emergency and critical care, including triage and prioritization of incoming patients, IV catheters, central lines, NG tubes, blood draws and transfusions, ICU care, surgical assistance, and laboratory preparation and interpretation. This position is ideal for CVTs looking to practice at the top of their license, grow their skills, and be part of a collaborative, high-energy ER team.

Responsibilities

Triage and prioritize incoming patients; Place IV catheters, central lines, NG tubes, and nasal cannulas; perform blood draws and transfusions; Assist with radiographs, barium studies, and ultrasound-guided procedures; Provide intensive care for ICU patients, including chest tube maintenance and critical patient support; Bandage, splint, and assist in surgery; Prepare and interpret fecals, blood smears, and cytologies; Mentor and train less experienced staff; Partner with DVMs to provide patient care, comfort, and client education

Requirements

Current CVT (or eligible for certification); Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive team-oriented attitude; Ability to arrive on time and ready to work in a fast-paced environment; Exceptional communication and customer service skills; Accurate medical recordkeeping and client history documentation; Proficiency in safe, low-stress restraint of patients; Competence in sample collection (blood, urine, fecal, skin) and lab processing; Proficiency in positioning and capturing quality radiographs; Experience in anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery

Nice to have

1+ year of clinical experience (ER or specialty preferred, but not required); Familiarity with preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow; Confidence in advanced skills (e.g., central lines, NG tubes, CRI calculations) or a strong desire to learn; Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback to maintain efficiency and patient safety; A self-starter mindset with motivation to expand knowledge, pursue specialization, or step into leadership
