Clinical Suppt Technician 5

Oversees all aspects of the daily operations in the laboratory specific section of Specimen Management. Provides technical supervision of section and is accountable for the professional conduct and technical performance of personnel within area. Works to enhance the growth of staff through areas of staff development and training personnel in day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

Oversees all aspects of daily operations in the laboratory specific section of Specimen Management; Provides technical supervision of section and is accountable for professional conduct and technical performance of personnel; Develops and coordinates roll-out of new procedures and evaluates new processing methods; Trains and coordinates training of new staff, develops training techniques, checklists and competencies; Continuously assesses work processes and suggests improvements; Ensures staff follow laboratory policies and procedures, including safety and security; Oversees all technical aspects of Specimen Management, including Pre-analytical Automation Systems, Middleware, Laboratory Information test builds, and Downtime System; Oversees QA activities including development of QA standards, collection and documentation of QA data; Serves as safety officer; Oversees training aspects at multiple sites; Oversees all aspects of the Reference Lab, including Send Out operations, QA monitors, and technical support; Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Associates degree in a related field required; Or 1 year of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Support Tech IV required; Or 4 years related work experience in a health care setting or customer service field, including other lab divisions within UR Medicine such as Client Services, Phlebotomy, Clinical Trials, or similar roles required; Or equivalent combination of education and experience; Ability to identify and resolve problems required; Ability to pay attention to detail and handle frequent interruptions required; Ability to work well in a team environment required; Demonstrates excellent communication (i.e. verbal, written) and organizational skills required; Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred
