Commercial Counsel

Scopely is seeking an experienced, business-minded Counsel, Commercial to join our legal team in Culver City, CA. This is an individual-contributor role for a lawyer who thrives in fast-moving environments, exercises strong judgment, and approaches legal work as a strategic business partner, building trusted, lasting relationships across the business.

Responsibilities

Serving as lead attorney on a broad range of commercial matters; Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements including AI/automation/SaaS and software licensing, DPAs, marketing/influencer/sponsorship deals, vendor and procurement contracts, NDAs, and adtech/UA IO agreements; Communicating legal and reputational risk and tradeoffs; Building and refining playbooks, templates, and checklists; Using AI tools and automation to speed up contract review, redlining, and issue-spotting; Partnering with Legal Operations to test and refine tools; Working closely with Privacy, Product, Employment, and Corporate legal teams; Coordinating with outside counsel as needed

Requirements

4-6+ years of legal experience in complex commercial transactions; JD and active California bar license; Experience with technology transactions and DPAs; Track record of building strong relationships with business stakeholders and delivering responsive, personalized legal support; Ability to operate independently, owning matters end-to-end with minimal oversight; Strong commercial judgment and the ability to translate legal concepts into clear, practical guidance; Interest in Legal AI; Excellent communication skills and the confidence to advise and influence senior stakeholders; Comfort working across time zones and cultures in a global organization
