Composites -Inspector (Level II - Contract)

SQA Services is hiring immediately in Avon, OH, for Level II Composites Inspector. This is a part-time 6-month contract with possibility of extension. Schedule: Flexibility. The inspector will perform advanced visual inspection, dimensional measurement, depth gauge measurement, and Shore A durometer hardness inspection, ensuring all inspection findings conform to engineering drawings, technical specifications, and product definition data.

Responsibilities

Inspect composite materials (i.e., carbon fiber, fiberglass, honeycomb, and bonded assemblies); Perform in-process, final, and first article inspections (AS9102) of aerospace composite parts and assemblies; Identify and document composite-specific defects such as delamination, voids, bridging, porosity, and FOD; Review and verify traveler paperwork, ply layup charts, cure reports, and material traceability records; Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using inspection aids, depth gauges, and laser alignment tools; Ensure compliance with customer specifications, drawings, and AS9100/AS9102 quality standards; Accurately complete inspection reports and maintain proper records

Requirements

3+ years of direct experience inspecting composite materials in the aerospace industry; Strong knowledge of composite manufacturing processes including ply layup, autoclave/oven cure, vacuum bagging, and bonding; Familiarity with AS9102 FAI (First Article Inspection) processes; Ability to read and interpret aerospace engineering drawings, layup charts, and specifications; Visual acuity and inspection capability for complex composite geometries and surface conditions; Proficiency with basic inspection tools and documentation procedures; Familiarity with precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges); Some familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing); Ability to work independently at supplier sites and deescalate workplace conflicts effectively; Strong communication skills with the ability to create clear, concise, and accurate reports; Must be able to meet ITAR requirements; Must be willing to undergo a background check; Must be ITAR compliant

Nice to have

Hands-on experience with mechanical inspection of aerospace components; Associate’s degree in technical discipline or equivalent industry experience; Experience working with aerospace composite suppliers or OEMs; Certification in AS9102 or ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI); Knowledge of ERP or quality systems such as Net-Inspect, SAP, or equivalent
