Computer Science Internship Summer 2027

Summer internship program offering a ten-week paid remote internship with AnaVation, focused on software design, coding, debugging, cyber security and data science. The program combines mentoring, learning activities, and project work to give broad exposure to the inner workings of a government contracting small business and professional information technology development and support. The team is local to Huntsville, AL, so in-person collaboration will be possible.

Responsibilities

Cyber Security techniques for offensive and defensive missions; Creating custom software applications, including idea, development, and testing; Developing technology demonstrations leveraging commercial cloud infrastructures (Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, etc.); Assessment of new application ideas; Research competitor offerings; Develop applications (coding, programming) as a team and demonstrate a prototype at the end of the internship to company leadership

Requirements

Must be a US citizen with ability to obtain a US Government security clearance; Computer Science major with targeted graduation date of May 2028; Excellent analytical and math skills, with the ability to work in teams; Minimum 3.0 grade point average; Computer literacy, proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite; Demonstrated work ethic, goal-oriented, and history of academic success; Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinker, leader, team player, and self-managed learner

Nice to have

Experience with a group programming project; Experience with Agile processes, especially Scrum; Proficient in Java and Python; Experience with Front End and/or Back End development; Experience with NodeJS; Experience with GIT; Experience with cloud systems (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud); Developing software projects as a hobby
