Cost Controller / Plant Controller

We are seeking a Cost Controller / Plant Controller to join our team in Decatur, IL. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Controlling, the Plant Controller/Senior Cost Accountant for vaRS Nortrak’s foundry located in Decatur, IL is responsible to perform and lead a variety of financial management and reporting responsibilities. This role will also work closely with the local plant management team.

Responsibilities

Complying with all Nortrak safety policies and regulations; Completing month-end procedures and preparing internal management reports; Analyzing profitability by product, project, and customer; Leading monthly financial reviews with the CFO, VP Controlling, Plant Manager, and other departments; Supporting process improvement initiatives and assisting with cost saving plans; Performing profitability and cost analyses for a variety of projects, investments, and products; Assisting decision making at a plant level with regular and ad-hoc analyses; Preparing internal budgets and monitoring actual results against budget; Preparing quarterly revenue forecasts in collaboration with the production team; Working closely with Purchasing, HR, and Sales to optimize cost, pricing and overhead; Managing product costing in SAP and reviewing standard costs monthly; Reviewing and reconciling labor reports and analyzing actuals vs production benchmarks; Monitoring inventory costing, balance, and movement; Collaborating with Production Team in managing inventory counts and various operations; Identifying, investigating, and resolving costing and labor variances with different groups; Monitoring and enforcing compliance with internal policies at the plant level; Monitoring vendor invoices, providing classification, and addressing errors; Monitoring and resolving sales order issues with Sales and Account Managers; Performing ad-hoc reporting and financial management tasks as required; Supporting plant team with analytical and financial tasks; Ensuring all costing is current, accurate and complete and verifying estimated costs against actuals; Managing deadlines and prioritizing bids based on complexity, priority, and risks; Maintaining knowledge of state-of-practice and recommending cost effective material, design, and process options; Liaising with sub-trades for quotations and analyzing quotes compared to historical data; Using financial and non-financial data to make informed assumptions for costing; Building and nurturing healthy working relationships with a wide range of employees; Taking interest and ownership of your responsibilities; Participating and engaging in different initiatives as needed; Actively participating in production meetings to gain an understanding of products and manufacturing procedures; Performing peer-review on other estimators' work and providing feedback; Being eager to improve and support other estimators; Maintaining good working relationships with other functions and divisions; Adhering to Nortrak's Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies

Requirements

Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance or equivalent; Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience; Experience with financial planning and analysis; Understanding of cost accounting methodologies; Ability to analyze financial and non-financial data and be able to clearly articulate opportunities for improvement and/or risk areas; Advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills; Experience with ERP systems; Strong analytical and interpersonal skills combined with sound professional judgement; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; Occasional standing and walking for your scheduled shift; Must remain stationary for extended periods and move throughout the building to access files; Must work effectively in a noisy environment; Ability to lift and move equipment or objects up to 20-25 pounds occasionally; Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus; Occasional travel required, involving walking, standing, sitting, and driving for varying durations; Frequent use of hands and arms for dialling phones and using a computer mouse
