Responsibilities

Provides all elements of pre-anesthesia, anesthesia and post-anesthesia services including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care; Manages conditions based on clinical indication, evidence-based care, cost effectiveness, and assessment of risks/benefits and alternatives; Participates in preoperative evaluation including assessment, exam, obtaining informed consent, ordering/administering pre-medications, requesting and/or review of preoperative studies; Ensures readiness and availability of equipment, supplies and medications to perform the planned anesthetic; Delivers anesthesia care including induction, maintenance, support of life functions, and emergence from anesthesia; Selects, obtains, and administers the necessary anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, fluids, and temperature regulating devices; Performs post-anesthesia duties including facilitating safe transfer of care, administering post-operative epidural pain relief and other post-operative analgesia, and making post-anesthetic visits; Manages emergency situations by assessing, stabilizing, and determining disposition of patients; Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record; Participates in quality, safety and peer review initiatives/performance activities; Participates in education and/or onboarding of new team members; Seeks experiences to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills; Maintains standards of productivity, access, face-to-face time, and quality metrics; May act as a clinical and/or didactic instructor for student nurse anesthesia students.

Requirements

Active RN, and APRN/APRN-FPA/APNP or other APRN license(s) in state(s) of practice; Active national board certification as CRNA by nationally certifying board (NBCRNA); Active DEA registration prior to hire; If Illinois practice: active Illinois Controlled Substance License prior to hire; Active ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by clinical site/practice and/or role prior to or within 6 months of hire; Master’s Degree in Nursing; No experience required; Demonstrated high level of clinical proficiency, and excellent decision-making skills; Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective member of a health care team; Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving technology and proficiency with the electronic medical record; Excellent communication skills; Ability to effectively collaborate with and establish/build relationships with others; Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively; Must have functional vision and hearing; Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist; lift up to 20 lbs. over the head; carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance; push/pull with 30 lbs. of force; perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present; Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines; Will be exposed to hazards on a continuous basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and body fluids; Will be required to wear gloves, goggles and gowns on an as-needed basis; Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shift; Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique; Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
