CT Technologist 1, Inpatient

Responsibilities

Performs CT exams by following and verifying referring providers' orders and remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences department and all governing bodies; Responsible for performing I-stats, pregnancy tests, starting IV's, scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, injecting IV contrast, preparing oral contrast, completing all associated paper and computer work, and discharging the patient from the CT department with appropriate post CT instructions; Identifies patient service requirements; Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed; Prepares patient for radiological/CT procedures by positioning patient, adjusts immobilization devices, moves equipment into specified position, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors; Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them for timely interpretation; Prepares and maintains accurate documentation; Practices radiation protection techniques (ALARA); Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements; Troubleshoots and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance; Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors; May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities; Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required; Or equivalent combination of education and experience; Licensed Radiologic Technologist - current NYS licensure upon hire required; ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with CE credits upon hire required
