Custodian

Brandeis University is looking for a Custodian in Facilities Department.

Responsibilities

Clean, strip, polish building surfaces as directed; Read, understand and carry out simple instructions in English; Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with supervisors, fellow workers, department heads and other members of the campus community; Follow simple oral instructions in English; Work in an environment subject to frequently changing priorities and from individuals and time deadlines; Bend, stoop, lift and move furniture, shovel snow and remove trash weighing 30 pounds; Work either independently or in a project team setting; Organize responsibilities and tasks; Receive and ship packages, luggage and supplies; Set up rooms for conferences, lectures, and special events; Respond to and clean up after emergencies and disasters; Assist in the security and protection of facilities to include locking and unlocking exterior and interior doors

Ability to clean, strip, polish building surfaces as directed; Ability to read and understand simple instructions in English; Ability to follow simple oral instructions in English; Ability to establish and maintain a positive working relationship with supervisors, fellow workers, department heads and other members of the campus community; Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to frequently changing priorities and periodic stress from individuals and deadlines; Ability to bend, stoop, lift and move furniture, shovel snow and remove trash weighing 30 pounds; Ability to work effectively and efficiently either independently or in a project team setting; Ability to organize responsibilities and tasks weekly to perform them efficiently and effectively; Ability to respond to and clean up after emergencies and disasters; Ability to perform other related tasks as required
