The Division of Sidewalk & Inspection Management’s Citywide Concrete Unit supports the agency’s goal to enhance, rehabilitate, and maintain the City’s infrastructure by acting as the agency’s primary construction unit. Under direction of the Supervisor Bricklayer, the selected candidate will work as part of a crew performing the following tasks: laying brick and masonry on given structures; does fireproofing, block arching, terra cotta cutting and setting constructs brick masonry for sewers and manholes; lays cobblestone; sets granite curb; lays pavers; reads and follows plans and specifications; keeps jobs and other records; may supervise assigned personnel. Additionally, the candidate may be assigned additional duties in line with their title.

Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a Bricklayer, or; At least three years of experience as described in “1" above and sufficient bricklayer apprentice experience or training in the bricklaying field acquired in an approved trade, technical or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of the remaining required experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of the above experience or training.
