Data Architect, BI Analytics Platform

Assured provides large insurers with software solutions for claims processing, including self-service claim-filing software and backend fraud detection. The Data Architect will define the standards, patterns, and platform that turn raw data into analytics the whole business can trust, designing and building the BI analytics platform. This is a hands-on architecture role for someone with exceptional engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

Define the architecture, standards, and platform that turn raw data into trusted analytics; design the Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) and set modeling standards, naming conventions, and patterns; establish end-to-end, column-level lineage backed by a maintained catalog and business glossary; classify sensitive data and build PII controls (tagging, masking, row access policies, least-privilege RBAC, retention and deletion rules); define SLAs, SLOs, and freshness targets and design monitoring and alerting; architect ingestion, transformation, and orchestration patterns that are idempotent, recoverable, and cost-aware; own schema design review, versioning, and change management; own architecture decisions and oversight across every layer; partner with analysts, BI developers, business leaders, Security, Legal, and Compliance; require version control, code review, CI/CD, automated tests, and infrastructure as code; write architecture decision records and design docs; mentor data engineers and analytics engineers

Requirements

8+ years in data engineering, architecture, or warehousing; 3+ years as the accountable architect; expert SQL; working fluency in Python; experience running Snowflake (or equivalent) in production at scale, including RBAC, masking and row access policies, object tagging, resource monitors, and cost management; expert in dimensional (Kimball) and normalized modeling; track record with classification, minimization, masking or tokenization, retention, and deletion under regulations such as CCPA, GDPR, or SOC 2; defined and met data SLAs with monitoring, alerting, and incident response; discipline with Git workflows, code review, CI/CD, automated testing, and environment promotion; ability to lead through influence

Nice to have

Experience with dbt, Terraform, and an orchestrator such as Airflow or Dagster; familiarity with Data Vault modeling; experience with catalog tools such as Atlan, Alation, Collibra, or DataHub
