Data Science Manager

As Data Science Manager within Marketing Data Science at Xero, you will lead a small team of 3 Data Scientists, stay close to the data yourself, and personally own marketing measurement for North America. The role is based in Vancouver with a hybrid work approach and supports digital, customer and marketing outcomes through AI-augmented insight.

Responsibilities

Manage a small team of 3 Data Scientists within Marketing Data Science; Act as people manager for data scientists based in Australia, the UK and South Africa; Personally own marketing measurement for North America, including campaign and event measurement, churn analysis and funnel effectiveness; Work across SQL, Python, BigQuery, Google Analytics, Mixpanel and GTM, with dashboards and visualisation tools; Embed AI-driven insight generation and agentic analytics into the pod's day-to-day delivery; Set the operating rhythm for a team spread across timezones; Present complex analysis simply so insight turns into decisions; Partner closely with regional marketing teams and other Data Science leads

Requirements

Practical marketing measurement experience across campaigns, events, churn and funnel effectiveness; Working knowledge of SQL; Solid Python; Strong foundation in statistics, experimentation and causal thinking; Familiarity with Google Analytics, Mixpanel and BigQuery; Ability to use AI-driven and agentic analytics to reduce time from question to insight; Experience coaching people you rarely share a timezone with; Communication that flexes between technical and non-technical, and local and global audiences; Comfort with ambiguity and loose direction
