Database Administrator

Database Administration: performing day-to-day Database Administration tasks for various Database Management Systems including MariaDB, PostgreSQL and others. Arηs Group, Part of Accenture, specializes in the management of complex public sector IT projects, including systems integration, informatics and analytics, solution implementation and program management.

Responsibilities

Database server deployment: installing, configuring, patching, upgrading DBMSs, database servers and databases; Database administration in virtualized environments (e.g. VMWare) and administration of underlying operating systems (Linux RedHat, CentOS); Database administration in containerized environments including Kubernetes; Security management: enforce data security and protection policies, manage database access, identify and audit user access to sensitive databases; Incident management using ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow); Change and release management: plan, validate and deploy releases into (pre-)production while minimizing downtime and preventing data loss; Health monitoring using tools including SCOM; Database maintenance: install, configure, schedule and monitor backups, integrity checks, index maintenance, update statistics; Backup and recovery: define and schedule backup plans, ensure restorability, integrate with NetBackup, manage data retention; Performance monitoring, tuning and optimization using tools like SolarWinds DPA; Business continuity: configure High Availability and Disaster Recovery (Galera, MaxScale, data replication) to meet SLAs; DevOps: define and implement pipelines for deploying database changes using Puppet, AzureDevOps, Flyway; Automation of repetitive tasks using Bash, Puppet, Python, PowerShell; Data modelling: design, reverse engineer and document conceptual and physical database models and update standard operating procedures; Coordination with Development, Architecture, Applications, Security, Networks and Service Management for troubleshooting; Communication with stakeholders and facilitation of compromise solutions; Training and knowledge transfer to internal teams; Handling assigned incident and change tickets within SLA timeframes

Requirements

Bachelor degree plus 9 years of IT experience; Excellent command of English, at least B2 level; Minimum of 8 years of experience in complex enterprise environments, tasked with systems administration of large scale general ICT systems; Minimum of 6 years of experience in Database Administration of mission critical production databases with sensitive data in high-security environments; Minimum of 5 years of experience in Database Administration with MariaDB (or MySQL); Minimum of 5 years of experience with PostgreSQL; Minimum of 2 years of experience in Database Administration with Kubernetes; Above mentioned experiences must be in on-premise, air-gapped environments; Knowledge of containerized environments with databases and stateful datasets, persistent storage volumes, High Availability and Disaster Recovery; Knowledge of database management in containerized environments for performance monitoring, analysis and optimization; Knowledge of conceptual, physical and logical data modelling methodologies (data model normalization, Entity-Attribute-Relationship design); Knowledge of complex enterprise architectures and advanced ICT solution designs, including Micro Services; Knowledge of ITIL processes for systematic management of complex IT environments

Nice to have

Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Public or Hybrid Cloud services and solutions (Azure or AWS); Minimum of 3 years of experience in Database Administration with technologies for High Availability and Disaster Recovery, clustering solutions, HAProxy, Patroni, Galera, MaxScale; Experience in Database Administration with Neo4J, Milvus, MongoDB, Cassandra; Experience in working with VMWare virtualization; Experience in Database Administration with Microsoft SQL Server, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, WSFC (Windows Server Failover Clusters); Experience in Business Intelligence solutions including ETL, OLAP, PowerBI; Experience in Database Administration with all mentioned DBMSs for on-premise environments; Experience in development of scripts and solutions for DevOps pipelines, automated deployment, database schema versioning, Puppet, AzureDevOps/TFS, Flyway, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform; Knowledge of Agile methodologies for bridging ICT Development and Operations; Knowledge of ICT data centres, infrastructure, security, storage, networking and service management; Knowledge of advanced concepts in Data Analytics, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
