Database Architect

Looking for an experienced Database Architect to design, implement, and optimize enterprise-grade database solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Azure cloud database services, with a proven ability to support mission-critical applications, ensure scalability, and maintain high availability.

Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable database solutions across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Azure SQL Database; Define data models, schemas, and standards for structured and unstructured data; Develop strategies for database partitioning, indexing, and query optimization; Architect and manage databases in Azure (Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL on Azure); Ensure seamless integration with cloud services, security policies, and compliance requirements; Support hybrid environments (on-premises + cloud); Monitor and tune database performance, queries, and stored procedures; Implement caching, replication, and clustering strategies; Conduct capacity planning and ensure high availability/disaster recovery; Define and enforce database security standards (encryption, access control, GDPR compliance); Implement backup and recovery strategies; Work closely with application developers, DevOps, and data engineers to align database solutions with business needs; Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior DBAs and developers; Document architecture, standards, and best practices

Requirements

Strong proficiency in SQL Server and PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimization, stored procedures); Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL on Azure; Knowledge of database migration tools and strategies (e.g., from on-prem to cloud); 10+ years in database design, administration, or architecture; Proven track record of architecting large-scale, high-availability systems; Experience with ETL processes, data warehousing, and BI tools is a plus; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Excellent communication and documentation abilities; Ability to work cross-functionally with business and technical teams

Nice to have

Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert; Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus; Familiarity with DevOps pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, ARM templates); B.Tech or equal technical education; Fluent English and Excellent communication skills
