Responsibilities

Oaks Cairns Hotel are looking for a skilled and motivated Demi Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.; This role is essential in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen, assisting with food preparation, cooking, and presentation, while helping deliver a high-quality dining experience for guests.; Key Responsibilities Include:; Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in line with menu standards and guest expectations.; Assist in the development and plating of high-quality meals.; Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with food safety, hygiene, and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards.; Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and smooth operations.; Support and mentor junior kitchen staff where required.; Contribute to menu planning, recipe development, and kitchen efficiency improvements. Expected Hours: Full time, 38 hours per week; Location: Minor Hotels Australasia, Oaks Cairns Hotel, 59/63 Esplanade, Cairns City QLD 4870; Salary: $79,423 - $82,000 (excluding super); Approved Sponsor: Minor Hotels Australasia Limited (previously known as Oaks Hotels & Resorts Limited)

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will have:; Previous experience as a Demi Chef or in a similar kitchen role.; Relevant Australian cookery qualifications, ideally Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.; Knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and presentation standards.; Understanding of HACCP, OH&S, and kitchen hygiene requirements.; Strong teamwork and communication skills.; Positive, proactive attitude and genuine passion for cooking.; Flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
