Design Engineer

We're hiring our first Design Engineer to own how Stuut looks, feels, and works, from first sketch to production code. Reporting to the Head of Product & Design, you'll work alongside engineers and the Product Manager across every surface finance teams touch. Stuut is the AI coworker that runs order-to-cash for enterprises, including Honeywell, ZoomInfo and PerkinElmer.

Responsibilities

Own design and frontend end to end, from customer problem to shipped code across the Stuut dashboard and payer-facing experiences; Make AI agents legible by designing how agent actions, reasoning, approvals, and audit trails appear; Tame data-heavy workflows so invoices, disputes, payment plans, cash application, and customer hierarchies are scannable and fast; Build the design system by owning the component library, tokens, and interaction patterns; Settle debates with working prototypes in front of customers before committing engineering time; Stay close to customers by joining calls with collectors, AR managers, and controllers, and using product analytics; Own post-launch quality, including craft, accessibility, performance, empty/loading/error states, instrumentation, and edge cases; Build with agents by using coding agents daily to prototype and ship, while owning testing and debugging of their output

Requirements

Shipped work: portfolio shows things you identified, designed, built, shipped, and learned from; Production frontend: strong production experience with React and TypeScript, comfortable in a large existing codebase; Design with craft: strong visual and interaction design, with experience making complex, data-dense B2B products clear; Move across the stack: comfortable reasoning about APIs, data models, and implementation details; Decide with evidence: uses customer research and product data to make and revise decisions; Work agent-native: uses coding agents every day and can explain and stand behind their output; Thrive in ambiguity: has done best work at a fast-growing startup with high ownership and incomplete information

Nice to have

Designed AI agent or copilot experiences (human-in-the-loop approvals, explainability, conversational analytics); Worked in fintech, B2B payments, ERP, or AR/AP workflows; Built a design system or component library that other engineers adopted; Designed data visualization or operational dashboards; Built enterprise configuration surfaces (permissions, org hierarchies, or rules engines)
