Director of Engineering, Core

We are a SaaS company specializing in accounting software for the hospitality industry, built on a modern .NET technology stack. As the Director of Engineering, Core, you will provide visionary leadership for the engineering organization, define and execute the technology roadmap, and oversee delivery of scalable, secure software solutions. This role also advances M3's agentic development excellence, moving teams from AI-assisted research and coding support toward governed, workflow-aware practices that improve velocity, quality, security, and developer experience. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders, mentor engineering managers and leads, and ensure development practices align with business objectives, customer needs, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the engineering organization; Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable, secure, and high-quality .NET-based applications and services; Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, collaboration, and technical excellence; Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, including engineering managers, leads, and individual contributors; Partner with Product, Design, QA, and Data Engineering teams to deliver features on time and on budget; Govern the M3 software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes, agile methodologies, CI/CD practices, and technical standards; Champion best practices in software engineering, including agentic workflows, code reviews, automated testing, observability, and cloud-native development; Drive innovation through the adoption of AI technologies, cloud platforms (preferably Azure), PaaS, IaaS and modern engineering approaches; Lead a phased agentic development roadmap from AI-assisted research to workflow-aware agents; Establish governance, enablement, prompt/playbook standards, human review practices, and productivity and quality metrics for responsible AI-assisted development; Evaluate, introduce, and implement new technologies, frameworks, and tools; Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, including security and regulatory requirements; Establish and monitor KPIs for engineering productivity, software quality, and system reliability; Oversee resource allocation, project planning, and prioritization; Collaborate with executive leadership and business stakeholders; Govern and continuously improve engineering processes, compliance, documentation, and team collaboration; Represent the engineering organization in cross-functional meetings, company initiatives, and external partnerships

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; 10+ years of experience building and leading web/SaaS-based application teams, with at least 5 years in a senior engineering leadership role; Proven experience managing engineering teams in a SaaS environment and delivering complex software projects; Deep expertise in C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET, SQL/noSQL databases, cloud platforms (preferably Azure), microservices, and DevOps practices; Experience with modern AI development technologies (Claude, GitHub CoPilot and Codex), data engineering, and cloud-native architectures; Experience introducing AI-assisted development practices such as research assistants, IDE copilots, prompt-based code generation, automated testing, or AI pair programming; Experience defining guardrails and success measures for emerging AI/agentic tools, including workflow-aware agents, security, compliance, code quality, and developer productivity; Strong understanding of software and data security, compliance, and governance principles; Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams; Experience using data/telemetry for team and system performance management

Nice to have

Master's degree preferred; Experience in the accounting or financial software sector is a plus
