Emergency Department Technician Full Time Nights

This position is responsible for providing patient care and assists health care providers in performing assigned patient procedures within scope of training. Position receives general supervision from RN, APN, PA, or Physician in providing patient care. As a full time, Emergency Department Tech at Ogallala Community Hospital, you will be working in inpatient care and the Emergency Department. This position is for CNA Licensure Only, you must have a CNA license in NE. Position will consist of full-time night shift 5pm-5:30am 36/hr per week.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care under general supervision of RN, APN, PA, or Physician; perform assigned procedures such as electrocardiogram testing (EKG), wound cleansing, vital sign measurements, monitor lead application, specimen collection, and transport of stable telemetry or non-monitored patients; where state statute permits, perform blood glucose testing, phlebotomy, saline lock insertion, IV discontinuation, and bladder (Foley) catheterization after training; set up and prepare patients and assist with exams and minor surgical or health procedures within scope of training; apply orthopedic devices including splints under physician direction; perform point of care testing and quality control checks on point of care equipment; communicate patient condition changes to providers; accurately document vital signs, procedures, equipment and techniques; monitor supply stock levels and report needs; notify housekeeping, maintenance and biomedical engineering as needed; assist with health unit coordination and reception as needed; attend department meetings and educational sessions; assist in orienting and training new ED Technicians

Requirements

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Emergency Medical Technician–Basic (EMT-B) or higher with state licensure or state certification, or Certified Nursing Assistant in state of practice, required for new hires and transfers; CNA license in NE required; basic computer skills; effective communication (written and verbal) skills; problem-solving ability
