Engineering Intern (London, Summer 2027)

The engineering intern position is for an individual contributor who is responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining significant systems that serve hundreds of millions of requests per month. Hiya provides high-availability, latency-sensitive capabilities to telecoms, mobile apps, and other partners. In addition, you'll work with engineering teams across Hiya, some in Seattle and some in Europe, to define and deliver shared components and services. From day one, you will be paired with a dedicated mentor who provides structured guidance, technical feedback, and ongoing career mentorship.

Responsibilities

Architect, implement, and maintain significant systems that serve hundreds of millions of requests per month; Work with engineering teams across Hiya, including in Seattle and Europe, to define and deliver shared components and services; Design, code, and operate high-performance services and data processing pipelines on a modern technology stack; Collaborate with and learn from other team members at a supportive and fast-growing startup; Make an impact in the lives of hundreds of millions of consumers; Be supported in developing skills and accelerating career

Requirements

Engineering: CS majors - 2nd year (graduating 2028); Excitement to work on innovative technology advancements; A philosophy of iteration and continuous improvement; Working knowledge of building services that adhere to operational SLAs; A preference for velocity over perfection; A commitment to respectful and impactful collaboration; Self-motivated and excited to learn about new technologies
