Field Service Technician / Engineer

We have a great job opportunity available at nGeneration for a Field Service Engineer. This role requires the ability to identify and fix hardware, configuration issues, as well as repair hardware devices. Additionally, excellent client interaction skills are essential. Once you have completed your induction training, as a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for visiting customer sites to install, refurbish, and maintain various types of technical equipment, such as EPoS equipment, chip and pin devices, tablets, digital menu boards, media screens, kitchen management systems, routers, Wi-Fi, and other industry-related IT equipment.

Responsibilities

Determine the requirements and specifications for installing or servicing retail/hospitality technical equipment and hardware; Visit customer sites to install, refurbish, and maintain various types of technical equipment such as EPoS equipment, chip and pin devices, tablets, digital menu boards, media screens, kitchen management systems, routers, Wi-Fi, and other industry-related IT equipment; Conduct daily visits to client locations for break fix, install, refurbish and maintain EPoS equipment, chip and pin devices, tablets, digital menu boards, media screens, kitchen management systems, routers, Wi-Fi and other pertinent IT equipment; Travel to client sites to provide on-site equipment swap-out services, minimising downtime for the client; Perform setup of Wi-Fi devices and identify faults with data network cables on-site; Troubleshoot and resolve technical, hardware, or software issues during site visits, promptly escalating to the appropriate team when necessary; Ensure troubleshooting steps and actions are documented and signed off by the client before completing the task

Requirements

Ability to identify and fix hardware and configuration issues and repair hardware devices; Excellent client interaction skills; Clean Full UK Manual Driver's Licence (International Driving Licences NOT accepted); Willingness to travel to client sites daily and stay away from home overnight when required; Technical mindset and logical/methodical approach to troubleshooting; Experience or knowledge in identifying faults with data network cables; Experience in IT installations, Electronic Equipment Installation or a similar environment where electronic/technical devices/hardware are installed, supported, and troubleshooted; Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

Nice to have

Experience in installing EPoS within the retail or hospitality industry; Previous experience as an IT Network Engineer or Telecoms/Broadband Engineer, especially in retail and/or hospitality; 1 year of IT support experience; 1 year of EPOS experience; 100% willingness to travel
