Flight Software Engineer Co-op

As a Flight Software Engineer Co-op at MORSE, you will be developing software to support autonomous Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). In this role you will be involved with all aspects of the engineering design cycle from concept to deployment. You will be exposed technologies that span the software technical stack from bare-metal firmware development to Linux-hosted robots and containerized cloud-deployed micro-services. Further you are driven to focus on where users, software, and hardware interact to ensure that deployed autonomous systems are capable of executing their mission successfully while meeting or exceeding the customer’s expectations.

Responsibilities

Design and build embedded and flight software for unmanned aerial vehicles; Develop embedded software for Linux or RTOS applications; Develop device drivers, protocols, and APIs vehicle systems; Integrate new features and sensors into flight controller software; Integrate guidance and control algorithms with the flight software stack; Create Software-In-The-Loop (SWIL) and Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) test fixtures and automation; Participate in flight tests and analyze flight test results

Requirements

Working towards BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; US Citizenship and ability to get a US Security Clearance; Experience with C++ is required; Experience with third-party libraries and APIs; Knowledge of Embedded Linux operating systems; Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills; Good communication skills and the ability to have fun when working
