Groundworker

Bauer Media Outdoor are a leading Out of Home media owner, operating more than 33,000 advertising sites nationwide. We are looking for a Groundworker to join our growing team in our Bristol Depot. The role will involve travelling to sites (roadsides and public areas) within the South West and wider South Area, working in a small team installing steel structures and digital advertising screens. Groundwork will include hand and machine excavations for large mass concrete foundations, and underground ducting works. You will cast mass concrete and steel foundations and finish the groundworks phase in a variety of surfacing materials. You would also be required to excavate around network cabling and have a working knowledge of Streetworks UK/NJUG for trenches and joint bays.

Responsibilities

Travel to sites (roadsides and public areas) within South West and wider South Area; Occasionally work away from home along with some evening or weekend work; Work in a small team installing steel structures and digital advertising screens; Perform hand and machine excavations for large mass concrete foundations; Carry out underground ducting works; Use safe excavation techniques and survey for underground apparatus; Read technical drawings and set out to line and level; Cast mass concrete and steel foundations; Finish groundworks phase in surfacing materials; Excavate around network cabling; Maintain working knowledge of Streetworks UK/NJUG for trenches and joint bays; Manage workload within agreed timescales; Ensure safe site is created and maintained in accordance with Construction Phase Plan and RAMS; Report near misses, accidents or incidents to Construction Manager/NERS assessing officer; Adhere to Construction Design and Management regulations 2015; Use working live and working dead procedures; Operate machinery such as CAT and Jenny; Use working knowledge of Network Drawings and PU Drawings

Requirements

3-5 years' experience in excavation works involving Utilities; NRSWA qualified; Traffic Management knowledge and the understanding of correct procedures; Understanding of Construction Design and Management regulations 2015; Experience with working at height – Use of step ladders, tower scaffolding and MEMPs; Use of power tools such as Hydraulic breakers and disc saws and grinding wheels; Ability to problem solve on issues related to construction, using initiative when making decisions to enable the works to continue; Identification of underground services and competency using CAT scanning; Excavation and Sub-Structure knowledge; HSG47 working knowledge; Competent in the use of machinery
