HGV Class1 Driver

To ensure the speedy, efficient and accurate delivery of assembled product and invoices to the customer within the corporate guidelines.

Responsibilities

To maintain a safe and competent standard of driving, observing speed limits and other traffic signs and giving due regard to other road users; To have a daily check to ensure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition including a check of the lights, brakes, coolant, etc; To report any faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays; To maintain the internal and external condition of the vehicle together with the cleanliness of the vehicle; To ensure sufficient quantities of fuel have been taken for the day's work; To maintain the security of the vehicle and its contents at all times; To check all orders shown on the drop sheets and ensure all orders are loaded on the vehicle; To collect goods returned for credit, mail, delivery bins and their safe return to the branch at times instructed by the branch management; Ensure damages/breakages are dealt with promptly and correctly with due regard to special procedures for Hazchem's; To maintain a smart appearance at all times; To help maintain good customer relations; To be involved in other duties including warehouse tasks as defined by the Management; Meet all Health & Safety requirements

Requirements

A full driving license must be held relevant to the vehicle being driven; For insurance purposes, all drivers must be over 21 years of age; Whilst we do not ask for a clean license, we will assess the risk of employing applicants who have points on their license and this may affect our decision to shortlist; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Excellent Customer care; Intermediate Numeracy and Literacy; Building Customer Loyalty – Effectively meeting customer needs; building productive customer relationships; taking responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty; Communication – Clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message; Contributing to Team Success – Actively participating as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals; Initiating Action – Taking prompt action to accomplish objectives; taking action to achieve goals beyond what is required; being proactive; Safety Awareness – Being aware of conditions that affect employee safety; Manual Handling tasks such as lifting and bending are essential requirements; Drivers are required to maintain a smart appearance due to their constant interaction with external customers
