Housekeeper

Responsibilities

Keep hospital clean, safe, and comfortable for patients, staff, and visitors; Clean bathrooms and take out garbage; Clean and sanitize floors, walls, windows and furniture; Determine appropriate chemical solutions for cleaning and disinfection; Change linens on client beds; Use universal precaution processes in cleaning and disposal of biohazard waste; Identify areas that need repair and notify the proper person; Stock supplies and chemicals for the unit; Assist in the laundry with washing, drying and redistributing residents' clothes; Provide safety awareness for staff and clients; Sort and weigh laundry; Load and unload washers and dryers; Inspect wash at various stages of processing for cleanliness; Chart and log quantities of laundry collected and processed; Test water samples to determine hardness and effectiveness of cleaning agents; Monitor chemical pump system and change out chemical containers; Fold clothing; Run ironer; Deliver clothing and linens; Assist housekeeping with cleaning duties; Help train new Housekeepers; Help clean rooms after construction or patient move; Report broken items, safety problems, or cleaning needs to supervisor

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent; 0-6 months of progressive work experience (typically in Housekeeping); Knowledge of cleaning methods and practices; Knowledge of cleansers, supplies, and equipment; Knowledge of basic math; Knowledge of state and facility policies and procedures; Knowledge of universal precautions; Knowledge of emergency procedures, cleaning methods, materials and equipment; Knowledge of infection control standards; Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; Ability to work in various locations (including hot or cold areas) and on multiple surfaces; Background check including fingerprinting; Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing; Current Influenza Vaccination required
