Lab Clin Supt Tech 5 Media Prep

Responsibilities

Oversees all aspects of daily operations in the laboratory specific section of Specimen Management; Provides technical supervision of section and is accountable for the professional conduct and technical performance of personnel within area; Works to enhance staff growth through staff development and training personnel in day-to-day operations; Develops and coordinates the roll-out of new procedures and evaluates new processing methods; Trains and coordinates the training of new staff; Assesses work processes and suggests improvements; Ensures staff follow laboratory policies and procedures; Performs Sr. Technician duties and assumes bench responsibilities as needed; Oversees all technical aspects of Specimen Management, including Pre-analytical Automation Systems, Middleware, Laboratory Information test builds, and Downtime System; Serves as technical representative to CLSS; Oversees QA activities; Serves as safety officer; Oversees all training aspects; Oversees Reference Lab including Send Out operations; Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Associates degree in a related field required; Or 1 year of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Support Tech IV required; Or 4 years related work experience in a health care setting or customer service field, including other lab divisions within UR Medicine such as Client Services, Phlebotomy, Clinical Trials, or similar roles required; Or equivalent combination of education and experience; Ability to identify and resolve problems required; Ability to pay attention to detail and handle frequent interruptions required; Ability to work well in a team environment required; Excellent communication (verbal, written) and organizational skills required
