Mammographer

Determination of appropriate radiographic/mammographic technique and position of patient for specified exam. Participates in more advanced mammographic procedures such as galactograms, needle localizations, and stereotactic biopsies. Adheres to all accepted safety standards and practices to ensure a safe patient and work environment.

Responsibilities

Determines appropriate radiographic/mammographic technique and position of patient for specified exam; Positions patient and operates equipment to assure optimal images; Secures patient history and enters data; Assures patient data is correct; Sends images to second look system, soft copy workstation and archival system; Participates in advanced mammographic procedures such as galactograms, needle localizations, and stereotactic biopsies; Adheres to accepted safety standards and practices; Delivers patient care in accordance with departmental standards; Monitors inventory of supplies and reports deficiencies; Participates in Quality Control and Quality Assurance Programs

Requirements

Graduate of AMA approved school/program of Radiologic Technology; Three years experience as a Radiologic Technologist; Must recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated; Knowledge of radiography services; Basic knowledge of RIS; Excellent interpersonal communication skills; Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both Radiology and Mammography; Licensed by the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety (IDNS); Maintains current CPR certification
