Medical Assistant - SSH Urgent Care

The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting the practice with overall responsibility for maintaining efficiency of patient flow. Clinical duties include but are not limited to maintaining universal precautions; rooming patients, taking necessary vital signs and measurements, perform phlebotomy as needed, administering vaccines, performing treatments and procedures as ordered by the provider. He/She will be responsible for answering practice education, counseling and performing various testing and screenings. The Medical Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining patients' rooms, setting up and stocking, as appropriate as well as ordering and tracking supplies for the practice. Administrative responsibilities will include, without limitation, all generally accepted office responsibilities, making appointments, filing, answering phones, preparing correspondence, preparing patient charts, obtaining referrals and paperwork from referring physician offices.

Responsibilities

Support the practice and maintain efficiency of patient flow; Room patients, take vital signs and measurements; Perform phlebotomy as needed; Administer vaccines; Perform treatments and procedures as ordered by the provider; Assist physicians in minor procedures and wound care; Act as chaperone when needed; Assist with receiving test results and calling patients with follow-up; Clean instruments and equipment following infection control guidelines; Maintain patient rooms, setup and stocking; Order and track supplies; Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, preparing correspondence and patient charts, and obtaining referrals; Cross-train to cover the front desk; Precept new employees; Work required weekend and holiday schedule

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent; Completion of a Medical Assistant program; Experience in a clinical setting; BLS - Basic Life Support; Certified Medical Assistant certificate
