Medical Technologist

Under the direction of laboratory leadership and with the ability to work independently, provides specialized testing and support for the laboratory section. Performs complex technical assignments, which are broadly outlined and require theoretical insight and interpretation. Exercises a high degree of skill and judgment and an understanding of the principles and methodologies of laboratory science.

Responsibilities

Provides specialized testing and support for the laboratory section; Performs complex technical assignments; Performs instrument maintenance/standardization and daily quality control; Prepares and analyzes patient samples using moderately complex laboratory methods/instrumentation; Reports results of patient sample analysis using computer/instrument interface options; Participates in safety, quality control, and quality assurance protocols; Participates in training of other technologists, technicians, and/or residents; Assists supervisor in maintaining supply inventory and participates in special procedures; Assists supervisor in writing and updating procedures; Communicates with internal and external clients clearly and professionally

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field required; Equivalent combination of education and experience; Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist per NYS upon hire required
