NonLinear Structural Analysis Engineer

The Advanced Numerical Simulation team is a part of the ‘Structural Analysis’ group in the Structures department and plays a key role across the lifecycle (Design, Certification and Inservice) of current and future aircraft programmes by developing and deploying state of the art and credible advanced numerical structural simulations.

Responsibilities

Assessing static and dynamic strengths using Linear/Non-Linear Finite Element Analysis to evaluate structural integrity; Detecting unforeseen structural design issues and recommending structural design modifications during aircraft development; Supporting certification of aircraft by de-risking certification tests; Carrying out Root Cause Analysis and supporting resolution of in-service issues; Using simulations to optimize manufacturing and assembly processes; Developing new simulation methods to make simulations more credible; Automating simulation lifecycle processes to reduce manual efforts and simulation timelines; Exploring digitization techniques such as AI/ML to augment simulations

Requirements

Strong engineering fundamentals including knowledge of Engineering mechanics, Strength of materials and Stress analysis of metallic and composite structures; Strong understanding of the different types of structural Nonlinearities; Strong understanding and hands on knowledge of all the phases of FE simulations; Knowledge of scripting languages; Awareness of advanced technologies such as AI and ML; Very good analytical and reasoning skills; Strong aptitude for problem solving; Broad technology exposure; Awareness of potential compliance risks and commitment to act with integrity
