Orthopedic Technician - Orthopaedics Manchester - Full Time

Primary location is Manchester but the role may require training and covering low census at Hooksett and Stratham locations. Elliot Orthopaedics, a Department of Elliot Hospital, offers expert, personal and individualized care in the diagnosis and treatment of all orthopaedic conditions, including sports injuries, trauma care, joint replacement surgery and most musculoskeletal conditions. The Orthopedic Technologist is a trained member of the orthopedic team who works with all health care professionals in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities concerning surgical and non-surgical procedures. Position summary: Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Work shift: Days.

Responsibilities

Under the medical staff's written orders, provide direct and indirect individualized skilled technical orthopedic care to patients by applying, adjusting, maintaining, and removing orthopedic equipment, devices, and appliances; Instruct patients and their families on the use of orthopaedic equipment, devices and appliances; Directly assist medical staff in the orthopaedic room, inpatient units and/or operating room; Accept telephone orders from the appropriate physician within scope and Elliot Hospital policies, and verbal orders only in emergencies; Apply fracture braces on the written order of the physician; Assist in daily office functions including exam room turnover, data entry, appointment scheduling and insurance pre-certifications; Work effectively with medical staff, office staff, and administration, supporting a team approach to patient care

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent; Completion of a formal Orthopedic training program, or equivalent certification (ASOP) obtained within 3 months

Nice to have

Previous clinical experience; National Board of Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists or registered by the American Society of Orthopaedic Professionals
