Outreach Support Worker

Outreach Support Worker required to support a 7 year old boy who lives in the Sherburn area of Durham. The child you would be supporting is a bright, cheeky and energetic 7 year old who thrives on 1:1 attention and loves activities such as climbing, trampolining, swimming and trips to the beach. He needs additional support and reassurance due to social, emotional and mental health needs, he has ADHD and ASD.

Responsibilities

Work on a 1:1 basis with the child while parent is at work during non term time; Trips on planned activities/days out such as Clip'n'Climb, swimming, cinema; Encouraging his adventurous spirit and helping to try new things in a safe way; Supporting his regulation through movement, calm reassurance and practical strategies; Building a trusting positive relationship where he can feel safe, valued and understood

Requirements

Experience supporting children with SEMH needs or SEND; Understanding of the impact of early childhood adversity; Patient, firm but fair approach that provides structure and consistency; Active, playful, and willing to join in with adventurous activities; Positive role model, encouraging self-esteem and resilience; Calm, reassuring, and able to manage challenges with empathy; Full UK driving licence and access to a car for outings; Enhanced DBS check required
