PCT III, Health Alliance Clinton, Emergency Department, 32 Hours, 11p-7:30a

Under the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician, provides patient care to meet the personal needs and comfort of patients and assists members of the healthcare team. Serves internal and external customers including patients, nurses, physicians and other colleagues. The position is assigned to the Emergency Room cost center, with a night shift from 11:00p to 7:30a, 32 hours per week, and holiday and weekend rotation schedules.

Responsibilities

Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes in patients; Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned; Participates in maintaining a safe environment, including de-escalation and restraint procedures per training; Assists patients with daily living activities; Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients; Maintains patient safety through safety checks and fall prevention; Takes and records vital signs, height and weight; Performs EKGs, Point of Care tests and bladder scanning; Collects, labels, and prepares specimens for transport to lab; Phlebotomy in certain locations; Assists RN/Licensed Independent Practitioner with treatments and procedures; Observes, measures and records food and fluid intake and output; Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed; Answers telephones and relays messages; Replenishes patient and unit supplies and equipment; Complies with departmental policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations

Requirements

Minimum of a high school education or GED; Current Basic Life Support; Demonstrated competency attainment in the PCT II level or 1 year of acute care/hospital experience or 1 year of EMT Paramedic experience; Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner; Medical Terminology; Computer skills; Strong interpersonal skills; Proven problem-solving abilities for routine situations; Ability to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations; Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
