Pharmacy District Manager

This position requires travel to multiple retail locations in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Poconos and Hazelton, PA market area. The associate leads a pharmacy district of up to twenty-five (25) retail pharmacy locations, supervises Pharmacy Managers and Floating Pharmacists, and is responsible for district performance, talent development, operational execution, customer experience, and patient safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

Leads a pharmacy district of up to twenty-five (25) retail pharmacy locations to achieve operational and financial goals; Builds an engaged and accountable team while providing strategic, operational, and people-focused leadership; Translates departmental and organizational strategies and communicates clear district and store-level plans; Leads district implementation and sustainment of new programs, services, technologies, and workflows; Develops, evaluates, and works to retain a team of Pharmacy Managers, Staff Pharmacists, and Floating Pharmacists; Partners with scheduling, recruitment, training, and human resources teams to address workforce needs; Ensures effective pharmacist, technician, intern, and leadership talent pipelines; Maintains district succession plans and develops internal candidates for leadership positions; Ensures consistent execution of pharmacy workflow, services, inventory, department presentation standards, and security; Ensures associates drive high customer satisfaction and retention; Evaluates workload, staffing, competencies, and physical workflow to identify safer and more efficient operations; Supports Pharmacy Managers in resolving complex patient, customer, associate, and operational concerns; Conducts regular pharmacy visits and follows through on identified commitments, risks, and improvement opportunities; Maintains working knowledge of all pharmacy systems, technologies, and programs; Responsible for district performance toward operational and financial goals; Uses performance data to identify trends, determine root causes, and establish improvement plans; Monitors competitive and market conditions and recommends actions to protect or expand market share; Presents innovative ideas and recommendations to pharmacy leadership to enhance efficiency, patient care, and department performance; Ensures safe pharmacy operations and compliance with laws, regulations, company policies, and professional standards; Provides district oversight on continuous quality improvement, medication safety, controlled-substance management, and regulatory readiness; Reviews audit, inspection, and patient-safety findings to ensure timely corrective action; Serves as initial field leadership resource for regulatory and pharmacy-practice concerns; Maintains working relationships with store operations, front-end leadership, compliance, HR, scheduling, training, marketing, and Pharmacy leadership; Communicates district performance, emerging risks, and recommended actions to leadership; Represents Pharmacy Services in district and regional business discussions; Directly supervises up to twenty-five (25) Pharmacy Managers and part-time and full-time Floating Pharmacists, including interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, disciplining, appraising performance, and resolving complaints

Requirements

Doctoral degree (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science (BS) in Pharmacy; five (5) years' experience in retail pharmacy; at least two (2) years as a pharmacy manager; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Active pharmacist license; Immunization certification for the primary state in which the district operates; Expectation to obtain pharmacist licensure in all states the district operates in within 180 days of hire
