Principal Assessor

The town of Northborough (15,741 pop.) seeks a skilled and experienced professional with effective customer service and communication skills to serve as Principal Assessor. The Principal Assessor is responsible for managing the administration of the Town’s property appraisal systems. Position responsibilities include overseeing the appraisal of taxable property, managing the division’s information systems and databases, and working with town and state officials and the Board of Assessors to determine the town’s tax rate.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business, assessing/appraising; three to five years of experience in a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience in Assessing; Mass Accredited Assessor (M.A.A.) Certification required within one to two years of employment; Class D motor vehicle license; completion of Department of Revenue Course 101 within one year of appointment; Certificate in Municipal Assessing with applicable designation of Massachusetts Accredited Assessor, Residential Massachusetts Assessor or Certified Massachusetts Assessor; effective customer service and communication skills
