Registered Dietitian

Responsibilities

Provide nutritional care for patients in accordance with physicians' orders and standards; Ensure medical record documentation supports system coding standards; Review medical records for pertinent data and develop/implement medical nutrition therapy; Monitor nutrition care, identify changes in nutritional status, and monitor progress; Document nutrition interventions accurately and timely; Attend meetings, rounds, and care conferences; Order diets, supplements, nutrition support, vitamins/minerals, and labs as indicated; Perform Nutrition Focused Physical Assessments; Work with high risk populations to prevent malnutrition; Provide nutrition education to patients, families, and the public; Communicate effectively with patients, families, and health care professionals; Mentor students, interns, and residents; Follow HIPAA guidelines and patient privacy rights; Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings; Serve as a liaison to physicians and staff; Participate in department competency assessment and PI programs; Support system safety efforts; Participate in patient meal QA program and provide operational support to FNS department; Develop and revise nutrition education materials and policies as requested

Requirements

Dietitian Nutritionist licensure; Graduate from a 4-year accredited college with degree in Nutrition or Dietetics or equivalent; Successful completion of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics registration requirements; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to respond to the needs of a diverse patient population; Ability to develop patient educational materials; Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration; RD eligible considered; Licensed by the State of Illinois; Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time; Flexible hours; Weekend hours may be required; Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
