Registered Respiratory Therapist

This position independently provides respiratory care, pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic testing to patients in a variety of health care settings. Night shift. Based at Banner Desert Medical Center (1400 S Dobson Rd), Mesa, Arizona. Care is provided for neonates, pediatrics and adult patients, with possible work in the Emergency Department, NICU, PICU, Adult ICU, and adult and pediatric cardiac cases. Floating between departments will be expected as needed.

Responsibilities

Performs all basic modalities of respiratory care as prescribed by physicians and/or licensed independent practitioners; Applies and manages mechanical ventilators in collaboration with physicians and/or licensed independent practitioners; Assembles, disassembles, operates, maintains, troubleshoots, cleans and performs adjustments of durable medical equipment and circuitry used in respiratory care; Performs pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic testing as prescribed; Performs patient assessments, evaluates patient response to care, and makes recommendations to physicians regarding the plan of care; Documents therapy provided in an accurate and complete manner; Communicates and collaborates with resource staff in formulating care plans and resolving problems; May supervise department staff; May be assigned to a variety of areas throughout the system where respiratory care is needed

Requirements

Associate or technical degree; Proof of having passed the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); A current license in state practiced as required by state law; Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Must be knowledgeable of clinical techniques, applications and equipment as typically obtained through one year of clinical experience; Must possess highly effective human relation skills necessary to interface with patients, families, staff and other healthcare personnel
